The main principle of the detection method provided in the pharmacopoeia is to process Chinese medicinal materials by distillation. After acid treatment, the sulfite series substances in the sample are converted into sulfur dioxide, which is then carried into an absorption bottle containing hydrogen peroxide with nitrogen gas flow. The hydrogen peroxide oxidizes it into sulfate ions, which are determined by acid-base titration to calculate the residual amount of sulfur dioxide in the medicinal materials and decoction pieces. On the basis of strictly following the requirements of the pharmacopoeia, the integration of heating, distillation, nitrogen blowing, timing, and titration functions can provide processing for 3-5 samples (blank samples, parallel samples) simultaneously, greatly improving the accuracy of detection data and reducing working time.

Working principle
