1、 Introduction to RVA Test Canister
The RVA test tank is an aluminum cylinder used to place test samples on a rapid viscometer. It is an essential accessory with matching blades. When using the RVA rapid viscometer for sample testing, the test sample is mixed with water and placed inside the RVA test tank. During testing, the RVA test tank is clamped by a copper Haff base to ensure tight contact between the base and the RVA test tank, allowing for rapid heat conduction. The computer can accurately control the temperature of the base according to the set program to ensure uniform temperature of the test sample.
2、 RVA test tank placement sequence
1. Turn on the RVA Rapid Viscometer and preheat for 30 minutes. Turn on the integrated computer, run the RVA control software, and enter the following test program. Enter the file name to store the data.
2. Measure 25.0 ± 0.1 mL of distilled water and transfer it into a new RVA test tank.
If necessary, a representative sample can be used. Weigh X ± 0.01 g of the sample and 14% wet base in a weighing dish and transfer it to the water surface of the RVA testing tank. The quantity of samples used depends on the source of the material.
4. Place the mixer in the RVA test tank and vigorously stir the sample up and down 10 times with the mixer blade. If there are still clumps or adhered agitator blades on the water surface, repeat this stirring operation.
5. Insert the mixer into the RVA test tank and connect the sample cylinder to the instrument. Press the tower cap to initiate the measurement cycle. After the test is completed, remove the RVA test canister and discard it.
6. The gelatinization curve can measure gelatinization temperature, peak viscosity, peak time, decay value, minimum viscosity, rebound value, and final viscosity.
3、 The function of RVA test tank
The RVA test tank is placed on the mixer and controlled by a computer, which not only ensures a constant rotational speed but also ensures uniform sample temperature. In other words, the computer functions as a viscosity sensor. Because the working current of the electric motor is measured and adjusted by a microprocessor, this ensures that the speed of the RVA test tank and mixer is constant. Based on the characteristics of the sample and the purpose of the experiment, the operator can choose the appropriate agitator speed to control the speed of the RVA test tank.
