II Microwave power measurement technology
In the DC and low-frequency fields, power measurement can be achieved by measuring voltage and current, but when the signal frequency is in the tensMHzEven hundredsGHzAt that time, traditional methods could no longer meet the needs of power measurement, so low-frequency measurement methods lost their own significance, and were replaced by electromagnetic field theory. Microwave power meters are a better means of solving microwave power measurement.
The microwave power meter consists of two parts: one is the power sensor (power probe), which directly determines the bandwidth and dynamic range of microwave power measurement. The other part is the power indicator (referred to as the power meter), which is used to set and display the measurement method, menu functions, and power measurement results of the power meter.
Power unit:
Generally, watts are used to represent the unit of power, with symbols“W”It can also derive units such as kilowatts, megawatts, milliwatts, and microwatts, which are also common in the DC and low-frequency fields. There is another commonly used unit for power: decibels and milliwatts(dBm)
It can be calculated according to the following formula:
A =10log( P/ P0) (dBm)
WhereP、P0All are symbols representing power, with power units in milliwatts(mW)Among themP0defined as1mWThe reference
Power.
Example:
1mWThe power, converted by the above equation, is0 dBm;
10mWThe power, converted by the above equation, is10 dBm;
0.1mWThe power, converted by the above equation, is -10 dBm;
The unit of dBm is a widely used power unit in the microwave field.

6、 Usage Introduction
6.1 precautions
(6.1.1)In useGX2BB01seriesMicrowave power meter (RF power meter)Before proceeding, it is necessary to read the instrument manual and familiarize oneself with the operating methods;
(6.1.2)The instrument should be used within the allowable range of power supply voltage(AC 95~220V,45 - 55Hz);
(6.1.3).GX2BB01seriesMicrowave power meter (RF power meter)Generally, it can work normally after a few minutes of startup. If precision testing is required, the preheating time is30 minute;
(6.1.4)Before zeroing, the sensor must be suspended or connected to the built-in instrument50MHz / 1mWOn the reference source and turn off the output of the reference source, press【ZERO】Press the key to start zeroing, and the display will show that zeroing is complete. Then, turn on the standard power output to calibrate the power reference.
(6.1.5)In progressmodernThe measurement frequency of the host should be set according to the frequency of the tested device during accurate measurement.
6.2 Operating instructions
6.2.1Turn on the instrument
Connect the power sensor cable to the signal input port of the host. Plug in the power cord(95~245 V、AC)Turn on the power switch to initiate the initialization process of the instrument. After initialization is complete, enter the working state. If the sensor is not connected toSENSORThere will be a warning above“NO SENSOR”.
6.2.2Specific operation instructions for the buttons
The front panel has11 A button, including4A function key【ZERO】The 【CAL】The 【MENU】The 【dBm/Watt】The4 A directional key【◄►▲▼ and1 A confirm key【ENTER】.
6.2.3Zero adjustment(ZERO)Calibration(CAL)
The instrument ensures the accuracy of the data during the measurement processmodernIt is necessary to frequently perform zeroing and calibration operations on the instrument.
(1)Zero adjustment【ZERO】
Zeroing is used to calibrate the zero position of a power meter, so that when there is no signal power input to the power sensor, the reading of the power meter is zero (or only a small noise power). During the zeroing process, there will be a waiting process.
It is recommended to zero the power meter in the following situations:
Ⅰ. Before starting up and powering on * * times for power measurement
Ⅱ. When the temperature change exceeds 5 ℃
Ⅲ. When replacing the power sensor (power probe)
Ⅳ. After working for a long time
Before preparing to measure the small signal power (the sensitivity specified by the power sensor is less than -20dBm)Under power conditions, pressZERO "key, instrument's LCDThe LCD display will show“Zero/MENU/ENTER”If it is confirmed to zero, press“ENTER "starts the zero adjustment operation, which is displayed at this time“Zeroing”Waiting for zero adjustment to be completed; If zero adjustment is not required, press“Exit MENU and return to the main interface. (Note: Zero adjustment requires turning off the signal source)
(2)Calibration【CAL】
Calibration is the process of calibrating the overall gain of the power meter channel and sensor using a 50MHz 1mW (0dBm) reference signal. The purpose of calibration is to set the correct reference calibration factor for the sensor. If using the built-in reference source of the power meter, it is necessary to connect it first and then perform calibration operation. During the calibration process, relative factors such as bias and frequency response are ignored
Press the CAL button to access the instrument's LCDThe LCD display will show“Calibrate/MENU/ENTER” If it is confirmed to zero, pressStart the calibration operation with 'ENTER', and it will display“Calibrating”Waiting for calibration to be completed; If calibration operation is not required, press“Exit MENU and return to the measurement interface.
6.2.4Menu(MENU)
【MENU】The menu mainly provides7 Sub menu functions, including【AVERAGE】The 【OFFSET】The 【FREQUENCY】The
【dBm/dBr】The 【SAVE】The 【CALL】The 【POWER REF】.
When setting the corresponding parameters in the system menu, press【MENU】Keyboard, and select the desired option through 【 ▲▼ 】, the selected option has a highlight effect.
