Process conditions for PVC pipe fittings

Drying treatment: Drying treatment is usually not required.

Melting temperature: 185-205C.

Mold temperature: 20~50C.

Injection pressure: can reach up to 1500 bar, holding pressure: can reach up to 1000 bar, injection speed: To avoid material degradation, a relatively high injection speed is generally required.

Runner and sprue: All conventional sprues can be used. If processing smaller parts, try to use needle tip gates or submerged gates as much as possible; For thicker components, try to use fan-shaped gates as much as possible. The small diameter of needle tip or submerged gate should be 1mm; the thickness of fan-shaped gate should not be less than 1mm.

Typical applications: water supply pipelines, household pipelines, house wall panels, commercial machine casings, electronic product packaging, medical equipment, food packaging, etc.

Material Properties

ABS (acrylonitrile butadiene styrene copolymer)

ABS is used for transporting drinking water, mud, and chemicals. Commonly used in DWV (Drain Waste Exhaust) applications.

Unplasticized polyvinyl chloride (UPVC) and CPVC (post chlorinated polyvinyl chloride)

UPVC has excellent chemical resistance throughout the entire working temperature range and a wide range of working pressure bands. Due to its long-term high strength, stiffness, and cost-effectiveness, UPVC systems account for a significant proportion of plastic pipeline installations.

CPVC is resistant to various acids, bases, salts, alkanes, halogens, and alcohols. This is not resistant to solvents, aromatic hydrocarbons, and certain chlorinated hydrocarbons.

PP (polypropylene)

Polypropylene is suitable for use in food, drinking water, ultra pure water bodies, as well as in industries such as pharmaceuticals and chemicals.

PE (polyethylene)

Polyethylene has been successfully used for safe transportation of drinking water and wastewater, hazardous waste, and compressed gases for many years.

Advantages of Pipe Materials

1. It has good tensile and compressive strength, but its flexibility is not as good as other plastic pipes.

2. Low fluid resistance: The wall of PVC-U pipes is very smooth and has little resistance to fluids. Its roughness coefficient is only 0.009, and its water transport capacity can be increased by 20% compared to cast iron pipes of the same diameter and 40% compared to concrete pipes.

3. Excellent corrosion resistance and chemical resistance: PVC-U pipes have excellent acid resistance, alkali resistance, and corrosion resistance, and are not affected by moisture and soil acidity or alkalinity. No anti-corrosion treatment is required during pipeline laying.

4. Good water tightness: The installation of PVC-U pipes, whether connected by adhesive or rubber rings, has good water tightness.

5. Anti bite: PVC-U pipes are not a source of nutrients, so they will not be eroded by rodents. According to experiments conducted by the American Health Foundation in Michigan, mice do not bite PVC-U pipes.

6. Performance testing: curing time, shrinkage rate, splitting strength, tensile properties, peel strength, thermal stability, applicable period, storage period, release of harmful substances.
