GX2BB01CMicrowave power meter

1 overview

The GX2BB01 series microwave power meter (RF power meter) is a new generation of detector diode power meter based on digital signal processing technology. It has a built-in 50MHz calibration source to provide power reference and can calibrate the host and power sensor. It has automatic calibration and zero adjustment, and 10 built-in input/output registers for users to store and call data; The GX2BB01 series microwave power meter (RF power meter) is paired with the YS11801X series power sensor, which has the advantages of wide frequency range, large dynamic range of power measurement, fast measurement speed, and high measurement accuracy.

The GX2BB01 series microwave power meter (RF power meter) can be manually operated on the front panel or controlled through a USB interface to calibrate the power indicator and measure the power level. The superior performance of the GX2BB01 series microwave power meter (RF power meter) can fully meet the measurement of RF and microwave power in fields such as radar, communication, broadcasting, and television.

II Microwave power measurement technology

In the DC and low-frequency fields, power measurement can be achieved by measuring voltage and current. However, when the signal frequency is in the tens of MHz or even hundreds of GHz range, traditional methods can no longer meet the needs of power measurement. Therefore, low-frequency measurement methods lose their own significance and are replaced by electromagnetic field theory. Microwave power meters are a good means to solve microwave power measurement.

The microwave power meter consists of two parts: one is the power sensor (power probe), which directly determines the bandwidth and dynamic range of microwave power measurement. The other part is the power indicator (referred to as the power meter), which is used to set and display the measurement method, menu functions, and power measurement results of the power meter.

Power unit:

The unit of power is generally represented by watts, with the symbol "W". It can also be derived from kilowatts, megawatts, milliwatts, microwatts, and other units, which are also common in the DC and low-frequency fields. There is another commonly used unit for power: decibel milliwatt (dBm)

It can be calculated according to the following formula:

A =10log( P/ P0) (dBm)

In the formula, P and P0 are symbols representing power, with the power unit being milliwatts (mW), where P0 is defined as a reference of 1mW

Power.

Example:

The power of 1mW is converted to 0 dBm using the above formula;

The power of 10mW is converted to 10 dBm using the above formula;

The power of 0.1mW, converted by the above formula, is -10 dBm;

The unit of dBm is a widely used power unit in the microwave field.

6、 Usage Introduction

6.1 Precautions

(6.1.1) Before using the GX2BB01 series microwave power meter (RF power meter), read the instrument manual and familiarize yourself with the operation method;

(6.1.2) The instrument should be used within the allowable range of power supply voltage (AC 95-22V, 45-55Hz);

(6.1.3) The GX2BB01 microwave power meter (RF power meter) generally works normally after a few minutes of startup. If precision testing is required, the preheating time is 30 minutes;

(6.1.4) Before zeroing, the sensor must be suspended or connected to the instrument's built-in 50MHz/1mW reference source, and the output of the reference source must be turned off. Press the ZERO key to start zeroing, and the display will show that zeroing is complete. Then, turn on the standard power output for power reference calibration.

(6.1.5) When conducting accurate measurements, the measurement frequency of the host should be set according to the frequency of the tested device.

6.2 Operating Instructions

6.2.1. Turn on the instrument

Connect the power sensor cable to the signal input port of the host. Plug in the power cord (95-245 V, AC), turn on the power switch, and the instrument will undergo initialization. After initialization is complete, it will enter the working state. If the sensor is not connected to the SENSOR, a warning of "NO SENSOR" will be issued.

6.2.2. Specific operation instructions for buttons

The front panel has 11 buttons, including 4 function keys [ZERO], [CAL], [MENU], [dBm/Watt] 4 directional keys [◄►▲▼] and 1 confirm key [ENTER].

6.2.3 Zeroing (ZERO), Calibration (CAL)

During the measurement process, the instrument needs to be frequently zeroed and calibrated to ensure the accuracy of the data.

(1) Zero adjustment [ZERO]

Zeroing is used to calibrate the zero position of a power meter, so that when there is no signal power input to the power sensor, the reading of the power meter is zero (or only a small noise power). During the zeroing process, there will be a waiting process.

It is recommended to zero the power meter in the following situations:

Ⅰ. Before starting up and powering on * * times for power measurement

Ⅱ. When the temperature change exceeds 5 ℃

Ⅲ. When replacing the power sensor (power probe)

Ⅳ. After working for a long time

Before preparing to measure the small signal power (when the sensitivity specified by the power sensor is less than -20dBm power), press the "ZERO" button. The instrument's LCD display will show "Zero/MENU/ENTER". If you confirm the zero adjustment, press "ENTER" to start the zero adjustment operation. At this time, "Zeroing" will be displayed waiting for the zero adjustment to be completed; If zero adjustment is not required, press "MENU" to exit and return to the main interface. (Note: Zero adjustment requires turning off the signal source)

(2) Calibration [CAL]

Calibration is the process of calibrating the overall gain of the power meter channel and sensor using a 50MHz 1mW (0dBm) reference signal. The purpose of calibration is to set the correct reference calibration factor for the sensor. If using the built-in reference source of the power meter, it is necessary to connect it first and then perform calibration operation. During the calibration process, relative factors such as bias and frequency response are ignored

Press the [CAL] key, and the LCD display of the instrument will show "Calibrate/MENU/ENTER". If you confirm the zero adjustment, press "ENTER" to start the calibration operation. At this time, it will display "Calibrating" and wait for the calibration to be completed; If calibration operation is not required, press "MENU" to exit and return to the measurement interface.

6.2.4 Menu

The MENU menu mainly provides 7 sub menu functions, including AVERAGE, OFFSET, and FREQUENCE

【dBm/dBr】、【SAVE】、【CALL】、【POWER REF】。

When setting the corresponding parameters in the system menu, press the [MENU] keyboard and select the desired option through [▲▼]. The selected option will have a highlighted effect.
