  working principle:
The thickness measurement of this ultrasonic thickness gauge is carried out by the probe generating ultrasonic pulses that pass through the coupling agent and reach the measured object. Some of the ultrasonic signals are reflected by the bottom surface of the object, and the probe receives the echo reflected by the bottom surface of the measured object. The round-trip time of the ultrasonic waves is accurately calculated, and the thickness value is calculated according to the following formula, and the calculation result is displayed.
  Working conditions:
Environmental temperature: Operating temperature -20 to+50 ℃; Storage temperature: -30 ℃ to+70 ℃
Relative humidity ≤ 90%;
There is no strong vibration, strong magnetic field, corrosive medium, or severe dust in the surrounding environment.

Calibration method for ultrasonic thickness gauge
The new MT160 ultrasonic thickness gauge obtained by the user must be calibrated by the user themselves based on the actual testing material. The specific operation requires three randomly provided standard foils and a substrate made of the actual tested material by the user. The thickness of the three standard foils is approximately 20 μ m, 200 μ m, and 1200 μ m, respectively. When using, the order from thin to thick should not be confused. The substrate should be directly coated (plated) with the tested part or the coating (plating) layer on the tested part should be removed, and the surface of the substrate should be flat and smooth. Never use random substrates, they are only used for MT160 ultrasonic thickness gauge testing. Unless your tested material has no substrate, only a layer of film. The calibration operation shall be carried out according to the table below.
Operating procedures for ultrasonic thickness gauge
1. Use a screwdriver to pry open the battery box cover on the back of the instrument and insert the battery. Press the ON/OFF button to turn on the instrument power, and the instrument will start running the self-test program. When the displayed number is zero, it indicates that the instrument is functioning properly and measurement can begin.
2. Place the probe steadily on the measuring object, and a mark will appear on the display to indicate that data acquisition is in progress. When the probe is placed stably, the coating thickness value will be displayed on the display, and one measurement is completed. Raise the probe upwards by at least 5mm, and start a new measurement with the MT160 ultrasonic thickness gauge. Each measurement result has been automatically stored in the machine.
3. After multiple measurements, pressing the RES key will display the average, maximum, minimum, standard deviation, and number of measurements in sequence. After pressing the RES key, if measuring again, the instrument will automatically clear the previous measurement values and store the new measurement values.
4. If an obvious erroneous measurement value is displayed during the measurement due to the unstable placement of the probe, the DEL key can be pressed to eliminate the measurement value to avoid affecting the accuracy of the statistical results. Due to reasons such as the probe lifting too quickly, the instrument failed to collect data and displayed a value of zero. At this time, the displayed zero does not affect the final statistical results.
5. After using the MT160 ultrasonic thickness gauge, press the ON/OFF button to turn off the power. This instrument has an automatic shutdown function. If no operation is performed, it will automatically shut down in about five minutes.
6. This MT160 ultrasonic thickness gauge has a power status indicator function. When the power supply voltage is insufficient, the upper left corner of the display will show "BAT". Afterwards, although the instrument can still work for about two hours, it is recommended that the user replace the battery at this time.
7. In addition to the conventional working mode mentioned above, the MT160 ultrasonic thickness gauge also has a continuous display mode. In normal working mode, press the △ key to enter continuous display mode, and the "FREE" symbol will appear in the upper right corner of the monitor. In this state, the measured values are not stored, and after each measurement is completed, the probe does not need to be lifted away from the object being measured, and the measurement and display continue. In this way, by moving the probe on the surface of the object being measured, continuous changes in the measured values can be observed. Press the △ key again to return to the normal working mode, and the "FREE" symbol will disappear.
The variation of measurement values is generally caused by uneven coating thickness, but changes in surface curvature or edge effects of the tested part, as well as surface roughness of the substrate, can also cause variations in measurement values.
8. When measuring small parts, it is recommended to use appropriate fixtures to fix the measured part.
Daily maintenance of ultrasonic thickness gauge
1. After using the MT160 ultrasonic thickness gauge, it should be placed in a clean and dry storage box to avoid impact and vibration.
2. The probe should avoid knocking and strong vibration and be kept clean. The dirt on the measured object must be removed before measurement.
3. When the MT160 ultrasonic thickness gauge is not used for a long time, the battery should be removed to avoid battery leakage and damage to the instrument
