Jeffrey GEFRAN Electronic Ruler Shenzhen General Distributor
Application of electronic ruler:
This type of sensor is widely used in different fields: automobiles, medical equipment, robotics, wood processing machines, and molding machines
How to choose an electronic ruler
Important parameters include:
1. Required accuracy and linearity
2. Expected range of measurement
3. Repeatability/Resolution
4. Required torque (low)
5. Environment, vibration, dust temperature, humidity
6. Electrical travel
7. Request for speed, expected price, and lifespan
Shortcomings of electronic rulers:
The response time is relatively long, even inferior to gratings or proximity switches, which often seriously affects its application in related industries. This is something that electronic rulers urgently need to improve
Common fault phenomena and handling methods of sliding resistance electronic ruler
The electronic ruler is actually a sliding potentiometer used as a voltage divider to display the actual position of the measured position based on relative voltage. Therefore, several requirements have been put forward for this device (electronic ruler):
1、 The power supply voltage should be stable, and industrial power sources require a stability of ± 0.1%. For example, the reference voltage is 10V, and a fluctuation of ± 0.01V is allowed. Otherwise, it will cause significant fluctuations in the display. If the fluctuation amplitude of the display at this time does not exceed the fluctuation amplitude of the fluctuation voltage, the electronic ruler is considered normal.
2、 The power supply should have sufficient capacity. If the power supply capacity is too small, the following situations may occur: mold closing motion will cause the display of the injection electronic ruler to jump, or glue melting motion will cause the display of the mold closing electronic ruler to fluctuate. Especially when the electromagnetic valve drive power supply is combined with the electronic ruler power supply, the above situation is prone to occur. In severe cases, voltage fluctuations can be measured using the voltage range of a multimeter. If the problem cannot be solved even after eliminating electrostatic interference, high-frequency interference, and poor neutrality, it can also be suspected that the power of the power supply is too low.
3、 There should be no external interference, including electrostatic interference and high-frequency interference. Therefore, the strong current lines of the equipment and the signal lines of the electronic ruler should be separated by cable trays. The electronic ruler should use a forced grounding bracket, and the electronic ruler housing (which can measure the resistance between the end cap screw and the bracket, and should be less than 1 Ω resistance) should be well grounded. The signal line should use shielded wire, and the shielded wire should be grounded or connected to the negative pole of the DC power supply at one end of the electrical box. When there is static interference, the voltage measurement of a general multimeter is very normal, but the displayed number jumps; The same phenomenon occurs during high-frequency interference. To verify if there is static interference, use a power cord to short-circuit the cover screw of the electronic ruler to a metal point on the machine. As long as it is short circuited, the static interference will be immediately eliminated. However, high-frequency interference is difficult to eliminate using the above methods, and high-frequency interference often occurs in robotic arms and frequency converters. This can be verified by stopping the robotic arms or frequency converters.
4、 The three wires of the electronic ruler cannot be connected incorrectly. The 1 # and 3 # wires are power lines, and the 2 # wire is the output line. Except for the power lines of the 1 # and 3 # wires, which can be swapped, the 2 # wire can only be the output line. Once the above wires are connected incorrectly, there will be large linear errors, poor control accuracy, and easy display jumping. If it is very difficult to control, one should suspect that the wiring is incorrect.
5、 The installation should be neutral, with a tolerance of ± 12 ° for angle and ± 0.5mm for parallelism deviation. This refers to a certain error, and if both angle and parallelism errors are too large, it will cause the displayed numbers to jump. In this case, voltage fluctuations can generally be measured using the voltage range of a multimeter. It is necessary to adjust the angle and parallelism. Please note that after replacing the aluminum alloy bracket of the electronic ruler with a stainless steel bracket on site, the installation position of the pull rod should be raised by 2 mm at the same time. Otherwise, the grounding problem will be solved and the misalignment issue will arise, which must be resolved simultaneously.
6、 For electronic rulers that have been in use for a long time, due to the lack of sealing in the early stage of the product, there may be many impurities and a mixture of oil and water, which affects the contact resistance of the electric brush and causes the displayed numbers to jump, which can be considered as early damage to the electronic ruler itself.
7、 The handling of electronic ruler display faults is simple. As long as there is a digital multimeter and a section of wire on the device, it is not difficult to identify and solve problems through comprehensive analysis.
