The empty box group, which moves axially with changes in atmospheric pressure, serves as an sensing element. It drives the pointer through a rod and transmission mechanism to indicate the atmospheric pressure value at that time.

The instrument consists of the following parts:
The pressure sensing component is a set of vacuum membrane boxes, and the transmission mechanism consists of connecting rods, intermediate shafts, sector gears, and spur gears. The balance spring is used to eliminate transmission clearances,
The indicator part consists of a pointer and a dial installed on the upper support plate. The atmospheric pressure value at that time can be read based on the position of the pointer on the dial. A thermometer is used for temperature correction of atmospheric pressure values.
The adjustment part consists of an adjuster, an adjusting screw, an eccentric axial screw, and an installation screw. The adjuster and the adjusting screw are used to adjust the sensitivity of the instrument. The adjusting installation screw can change the indication of the pointer to conform to the atmospheric pressure at that time. The eccentric axial screw is used to adjust the distance between the spur gear and the sector gear to ensure good meshing.
When the atmospheric pressure increases, the vacuum box is compressed and the pointer is rotated clockwise by a certain angle through a transmission mechanism. When the atmospheric pressure decreases, the vacuum box expands and the pointer is rotated counterclockwise by a certain angle through a transmission mechanism.

3The air pressure reading must be read to the next digit of the fractional value.
